Adaptive & Neurodivergent Yoga

Finding Your Flow: Neurodivergent & Adaptive Yoga for Every Body
I believe that yoga isn’t about fitting into a specific shape; it’s about making the practice fit you. Just as our Pregnancy Yoga focuses on honoring the profound shifts within the body, our Neurodivergent and Adaptive Yoga sessions are designed to celebrate the unique way your nervous system and body move through the world.
Whether you are navigating the world with ADHD, Autism, or a physical disability, or simply find that traditional studio environments feel “a bit much,” I invite you to a class where your needs aren’t just met—they are the blueprint for the practice.
A Practice as Unique as Your Mind
For many neurodivergent individuals, a standard yoga class can be a sensory minefield. Bright lights, complex “flow” sequences, or vague physical cues can create a disconnect rather than a sense of peace.
My approach mirrors the philosophy of our prenatal classes: radical self-compassion. We swap rigid “shoulds” for intuitive “coulds.” By integrating sensory-affirming techniques, will focus on:
- Nervous System Regulation: Using specific breathwork (pranayama) to move the body from a state of “high alert” into the calming parasympathetic “rest and digest” mode.
- Clarity and Consistency: Will provide clear, literal cues and predictable structures to reduce the executive function load, allowing you to actually drop into your body.
- Stimming & Movement: Will embrace the need for movement. If your body needs to sway, hum, or fidget to find its centre, that isn’t a distraction—it’s part of your yoga.
Adaptive Yoga: Honouring Your Physical Narrative
Yoga is for everybody, regardless of mobility or physical history. Adaptive Yoga isn’t “yoga light”; it is a sophisticated exploration of the mind-body connection. Just as we adapt poses for a growing baby bump, we use props, chairs, and wall supports to ensure the essence of a pose—the asana—is accessible to you.
We focus on the sensation of the stretch rather than the symmetry of the silhouette. Whether you are managing chronic pain, recovering from injury, or using a wheelchair, we work together to find the “felt sense” of the practice that leaves you feeling empowered and aligned.
The Intersection of Mind, Body, and Soul
There is a beautiful symmetry between pregnancy and neuro-affirming yoga. Both require us to listen to a body that is speaking a new or different language. Both demand that we quiet the outside noise to hear our internal intuition.
My mission is to provide a sanctuary where you don’t have to mask or “fix” who you are.
“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” — The Bhagavad Gita
